Why go after climate scientists… who have been saying this “for generations”? Climate scientists aren’t the problem.

That’s a pretty popular opinion, actually.
That’s what post-its are for!
Cause if it’s not on the entertainment system… they’re just going to use their phone? And being afraid of technology because of a small subset of people you assume are misusing it is a little fanatical.
Simple and straightforward solutions (re: things that actually fix problems and don’t sweep them under a rug for a few years) don’t win elections. Which, unfortunately, is the only thing that matters in US government most days…
I would call it blown out of proportion when it was treated like an epidemic when it was little more than a few people who ever did it. Most just joked about it, and taunted the old fogeys who got bent out of shape about it.
You mean another fad that was blown out of proportion by one generation trying to prove the idiocy of another?
And/or Radio.
Because corporations aren’t going to change because of an internet opinion piece. They’ll only change if they’re forced.
The problem is the only ones with the power to force them are the government… and the only one who can force the government is the people.
The problem isn’t that we’re telling individuals to do their part instead of corporations… the problem is that we’re telling individuals to attack the problem as individuals instead of working together. The problem is that we’re telling people to aim in the wrong direction.
And worst of all, we’re telling people “It’s someone else’s fault, they should be the one’s dealing with it” and then sitting on our hands.
That would require investment in public transport, and completely redesigning most (US) cities.
Not to mention increasing dependency on rail delivery for cross country goods.
So… a Robot Chicken sketch?
Shitty mobile game companies make a shit ton of money.
Only if you’re a rich white landowner who has financial interests at stake.
$10k in cash (typical emergency fund)
There’s your mistake right there, thinking people have even $10k to serve as a spare emergency fund.
I don’t even have a thousand spare right now for an emergency.
Most people aren’t going to have anywhere near enough taxable investment income for that to matter.
I think I got about $.87 in interest payments from bank accounts in the past year. I don’t think that’s going to make a huge difference in taxable income.
In a row?!
“Political figure makes non-committal statement, news at 11”
Why, in objective terms, is it lazy and dumb? Or do you just not like it?
Plenty of useful and appropriate words are used by people in dumb ways, that does not make the words themselves dumb.
Don’t forget congressional and state/local races as well. Trump is only one point of power, albeit much more visible. But the executive branch can only do so much if the legislature is red anyway.
