I’d imagine because they charged for access to piracy-specific functions of the tool and knew they couldn’t argue a case.
It was a dumb move for them to add functionality for unreleased games in the first place, and an even worse move to charge money for it. It makes it a lot harder to convince a court that your tool is for backup/archival purposes only, when you have features that could only work with pirated materials.
It’s kinda crazy how just by getting the camera movement, lens distortion, and exposure settings just right, you end up with a very natural-looking video. Even the game textures and animations end up looking more convincing this way. This might be a really fun way to play a stealth build.
Because it’s a live service game and has GMs who adjust in-game events in real time. Everybody is playing in the same world, which requires everyone on one server. The world and story adjust based on what all players accomplish.

Huge concurrent player counts like this are pretty significant milestones that not every game hits. The popularity of this game, which seems to me like it had hardly any marketing campaign behind it, is pretty noteworthy.

If he does, I hope he manages to recapture what made those games magical in the first place. Some of his most recent projects have really missed the mark, IMO. Bayo 3 should have been an absolute banger, but was mostly unimpressive.
Been playing a lot of The Finals lately. Normally my time would be spent in Destiny 2, but the current D2 season is gonna last for a looooong time, so I’m not in any hurry to grind it out just yet. But The Finals has absolutely blown me away so far. It can be buggy and unbalanced at times, but it’s so damn fun. Demolishing an entire building to bury the cashout station in rubble and prevent a steal is so satisfying.
Embark has also recently said that they’ve got a lot of updates in the works, so I’m really excited to see how Season 2 plays out.

Also, you’re thinking of trademark. Might be a good idea to know the difference before calling somebody else’s opinion “hullabaloo”.
While all of that appears to be true, that doesn’t mean Nintendo/TPC aren’t able to make this small studio’s lives a nightmare if they wanted. I have a feeling that the level of scrutiny the studio will be under from now on is going to inhibit any real innovation, as they’re already walking a very fine line as it is.
I’ve got a feeling that the legal issues, even if they’re in the clear, are going to pose a lot of problems for the longevity of the game. But, I’m really hopeful that this sparks inspiration for other devs to take on the monster collecting genre. Pokemon has dominated that space for so long that they practically define the genre at this point, so it’ll be nice to see new monster collectors come out with their own unique styles.
At least somebody is reusing our plastics.

I think you greatly underestimate how large of a platform Twitch truly is. They have over thirty million daily active users.
I used to work with a guy who spent several thousand dollars on ships, most of which were scheduled for release 3+ years away from when he gave up the money. I think he still hasn’t received some of them yet, but for some reason he keeps preordering even more ships. I would not be surprised if he spent $10k on this game already.
I mean sure, but how often is the virtual keyboard pulled up in any “creative” app? It always auto-hides if you’re doing anything other than interacting with a text field.

Even though it may seem disappointing, this was realistically the right call. You know what they say about broken clocks, and all.
They didn’t say he couldn’t be removed from the ballot, just that it’s a federal issue to solve and not a state one. And had they allowed it, that precedent would have been abused almost immediately and been back in the court’s review all over again and would have resulted in a ton of dramatic and divisive political theater in the meantime.
Though, it does highlight some significant flaws in our electoral process. There’s a lot of conflict between what the states and what the fed should be able to do for elections. The whole system needs to be revamped, IMO. Why each state sets their own rules is baffling to me in the first place; the Presidency affects the entire country, not just the states, so I don’t get why we aren’t going by nationwide popular vote instead of “California’s electors picked Candidate A even though the majority of the voters picked Candidate B, and Iowa voters did a collective Hokey Pokey in a big expo center and decided on Candidate C”, etc.
