One Wolverine variant in Deadpool & Wolverine looks notably better in a behind-the-scenes photo than he does in the final version of the MCU’s record-breaking movie. In the film’s first act, Deadpool travels the multiverse, seeking Wolverine variants to supplant the deceased one in his timeline, sparing it from the TVA. One such Wolverine variant matches the height of his comic counterpart, reminding viewers that in most of his appearances, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is far taller than the character’s original incarnation.
Luke Bennett plays this comic-accurate iteration of Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine, though his face is digitally replaced with Hugh Jackman’s in the film. On July 31st, Bennett posted photos of himself in costume as the comic-accurate Wolverine variant on his Instagram page, expressing gratitude for the role and his co-stars. The pictures look noticeably better than the altered version of Bennett’s Wolverine variant onscreen.
According to IMDB, Bennett’s only other acting role was in the 2023 film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, with Bennett playing the role of Bobby the Barbarian, a live-action version of a main character in the 1983 Dungeons & Dragons animated series.
How did I miss that? Loved the animation when I was a kid.
There’s a quick shot of another adventuring party while they’re in the maze, and those guys are all made up to look like the characters from the show. It’s pretty blink-and-you’ll miss it.
Worth noting that Wolverine in the comics is 5’ 3" while Bennett, according to his casting agency, is 5’ (although some reports have him at 4’ 11"), so they went smaller for the joke.
Huge Jackedman is 6’ 2".
