One notable bug I’ve had was being unable to install a specific bundled APK, though I think that’s my fault for not using current vendor firmware.

As far as I know, there’s only one app which is managed by Divest, which is Hypatia, which isn’t even installed by default. Hypatia is a virus scanning app but can be installed on other android devices.

The ROM is heavily modified, and mostly uses the fossify brand apps (formerly Simply).

Divest serves a very specific purpose. It’s not designed to be rooted.

My bad, poor choice of wording on my part.

When I’m talking about proprietary in this context, I don’t mean closed source, I mean it as in the financial sense of not being copy-left, or under any sort of licence which permits free adoption of their code.

Everyone here is bummed out, but fails to see the upside.

To rival the Play Store, there needs to be an alternative package manager on Android which hosts proprietary apps.

The outcome is a decrease in Googles revenue and eases the hold they have on Android as a Play Store dependant operating system.

If F-Droid didn’t step up, Epic would be the only contender to the Play Store. At least this way we know there will be some degree of democracy.

I don’t think there’s an ethical basis for capital punishment, except under some extreme circumstance (like having intel that a militant force will raid a prison to rescue a high ranking war criminal).

There are multiple reasons:

1. Surprisingly, capital punishment is expensive. So expensive in fact, that it’s cheaper to keep them in prison for their entire life, multiple times over.

2. The capacity for someone to suffer ends when they die. If you believe in punishment (I don’t, but you do you), then it makes sense to prolong their suffering as long as possible.

3. Capital punishment doesn’t dissuade criminals. Countries with capital punishment have just as many criminals as those without.

4. Punishment is a shitty metric by all accounts. Harm mitigation is the aim of the game, whether you’re talking about prison or execution, they’re both isolating a person from the broader community. If the prison serves the same purpose, why do we need execution?

5. It’s unrealistic to employ capital punishment where there isn’t any. Anyone who deserves to be executed would not be released from prison. You’ve got a better chance of convincing people to prolong prison punishments than you do of instating legal murder.

6. Innocent people are wrongfully convinced every day. Many people have been executed, only to be found innocent some years later.

What the other poster was getting at, which I was going to bring up is they said there’s a difference between a paedophile and a child molester.

A child molester is a criminal, a paedophile is not.

Don’t get the wrong idea, this isn’t a defence of paedophiles, but defence of a demographic of people who haven’t done anything wrong.

Much of the reason paedophiles dont seek help is because of the mindset displayed here.

A paedophile who commits themselves to never touching a child is nothing short of a hero in my opinion.

I’m a day one CP77 player and spent a lot of time in Night City. I’ve made four level 50 characters, read every patch note as it updated, and even fell into the FF06B5 rabbit hole.

The launch wasn’t great, but the negativity was miscalibrated.

The worst part of launch was the previous gen versions, which were functionally unplayable.

Yet most people were hanging shit on visual bugs and physics irregularities. This is an issue since CP77 is supposed to specialise in spectacle and immersion, but was a long way from being “unplayable”.

Outside of one instance, during an emotional scene, when a character died while a gun was clipped through his head, these bugs were funny. It didn’t affect how much fun I had.

The game is in a very good state now. The progression system had a major overhaul since the start of 2.0 and it is a fucking blast!

The game is far more streamlined, they’ve reduced the time spent in the menu, and made cyberware more important.

Perk points are now a lot more balanced.

Previously, if you wanted to play “properly”, you would dump 20 attribute points in Cool for Cold Blood, 18 in Tech to craft legendary items, and 20 into Intelligence/Body/Reflex, depending on your main damage type. It was quite restrictive.

Now the game is pushing you to use each attribute type to level up all five of your skills.

Besides labeling Tech up to 20 (you’re a dipshit if you don’t), and Reflexes to 15 (for air-dash) you can basically do whatever the fuck you want with your stats, and the gameplay is far better for it.

Once you get things set up, you’re zipping around the city like spiderman, sliding up to peoples butts at 70km/h and shoving the funnel of a shotgun into their ass. It’s a good feeling.
