In a similar vein, I absolutely love John Candy’s last film, Canadian Bacon. Every time I rewatch it I go “man I forgot how funny that film is!”

Checking rotten tomatos its not quite as badly panned as Wagons East! (0% critics / 33% audience vs 17% critics / 52% audience) but seems like a good candidate for this thread nonetheless

    Brief synopsis:

The president of the United States has successfully ended every war the country is involved in and is facing abysmal odds of re-election, so his team decides to start a second cold war, this time against Canada. John Candy plays a former weapons factory employee now sheriffs deputy in Niagara Falls NY, laid off with his friends due to the plant closure, and seeing the propaganda, they decide sneak across the border to stir trouble in Canada, losing one of their team who’s caught and taken for a free mental health evaluation in Ottawa, so now they must take a trans-canadian road trip to “save” her

  • Honestly I loved both the direction that Rian Johnson clearly wanted to take the sequels and I loved the direction that JJ Abrams clearly wanted to take the sequels and I honestly wish Disney had just stuck with one of them for the entire trilogy and let the other do a trilogy as well. We all know how badly Disney wanted to pump out a Star Wars film every year during that timeframe so that way they could’ve had their cake and eaten it too

  • Ooh I hope that’s the case because that would be much more convenient

Edit for anyone who stumbles on this: it works exactly like the above commenter described! It looks like there’s some opportunity to better communicate what DLC the “copy” you select is installing since it doesn’t show a full list of DLC but it at least shows who’s library it’s pulling from so you should be able to infer the full DLC list based on who has all of the DLC

  • I’m curious if this will improve DLC mismatches. For example, I’ve purchased most of the map DLCs for Euro & American Truck Simulator, but my wife only purchased the base game.

By memory she previously could access all of the DLC via library sharing until she purchased it, then she could only access the base game and not the shared DLC. It’s probably cleanest to keep it that way since you never know how different games handle DLC being activated and de-activated within an existing save, but it would be nice to not punish someone for playing a game with DLC via library sharing then purchasing the game for themselves and buying DLC later

  • The Sims 4 actually added a similar approach to character creation about 2 years ago, but very different kind of game with a very different market

Off the top of my head it has options for male presenting body type, female presenting body type, sliders for fat and muscle (and you can generally reshape most of the body) and the available clothing and hairstyles got sorted into masculine and feminine with I believe more traditionally gender neutral stuff getting placed into both, then for biological purposes there’s “can pee standing up/cannot pee standing up” and “can impregnate/can be impregnated” It defaults to Male/Female defaults but makes it easy to customize, and a good mix of default townies (NPCs) are all over the spectrum.

They also recently added more complex relationship and romance preferences, so sims can be sexually bi but romantically straight for example, but also expanded to allow various levels of openness to relationships as well as poly relationships

  • I bet a lot of those people leave such apps installed after the fact.

The fun part is once an app is installed, it tends to stay installed for a very long time, and often will even follow them to new phones because what does your phone helpfully offer to do when you first set it up? It asks if you want to transfer all of your data to it. So it transfers everything, including all of your installed apps. I’ve uninstalled flashlight apps from back when phones didn’t have such functionality consistently built in

  • Clearly many of the commenters here have not supported average smartphone users enough to know how they will blindly click the first thing that looks anything like what they think the technician is asking them to click. Remember, the average person does not have a laptop or desktop computer, they only have a phone (and only the one because they probably traded their old phone in with the carrier for a pittance when they got their current one), and they often do not have internet service at home and simply rely on mobile data from their unlimited data plan.
