  • It definitely depends a lot on the weave and weight of the fabric, my experience is generally if you have two regular looking tshirts, the cotton one will usually perform better than the polyester one. If you have something like polyester sports shirts those will probably perform better than cotton, but probably not feel as nice as either tshirt (IMO).

But definitely the most important thing is covering up with loose clothing, as you said! I have a sun jacket I wear because the UV is constantly like 10+ here. My dermatologist got so excited about it when I brought it up, lol.

  • Staying hydrated AF and wearing 100% cotton clothes, no polyester at all, is how I cope with it. Polyester is terrible for sweat and heat and will just turn you into a swamp monster, cotton wicks moisture away and lets it evaporate to cool you.

30 C isn’t that bad where I am for the summer, I regularly get groceries home on the bus in temperatures like that. I get sweaty, but a shower, salty snack, and a couple of glasses of water fixes that.

  • I think it’s a mixture of survivorship bias (20 years ago 90% of the crap anime didn’t leave Japan because there was no market for it) and some genuine quality decline. There’s a lot of money to be made in anime, so the safest bet from the corporate perspective is to make the thing that’s been successful a thousand times before. Over time this flattens character design and makes stories progressively blander.

Independent studios can also pump out trash of course, but at least it tends to be weirder, more interesting trash.
