As promised in December, the game is now completely free for everyone to enjoy—forever! This decision comes after modest sales during the first month and a half after release. While the game was still profitable, financial gain was never my primary motivation (I have an independent job outside of game development). My true passion lies in creating Zach-like games with open-ended puzzles and intricate technical solutions. Now, my goal is to reach a wider audience.
Interesting that the dev decided to make the game free after a month. They announced that they’d rather have more people play the game even if it doesn’t make money. While that’s nice, some people actually did pay for the game. I hope they get the option of receiving a refund if they’d like.
Yeah, I expect it’s a bit of trouble to refund stuff too. I can understand doing it if you’ve got something to complain about, but having paid like 8 bucks one month ago for a game that’s now free is really not worth the trouble IMO.
I’ve only refunded one game, and that’s because it literally went into a bundle the next week, where the bundle was half the game’s sale price. And even then, I still feel kinda bad about it.
The game becoming free is a good thing and in no way changes the value for people who already bought it.

I mean if you liked the game and enjoyed the developper’s work I feel like that’s worth paying them a coffee unless you truly hated it 😅

Even less so if you actually enjoyed the game.
