There’s not many Xbox only games that aren’t multi-platform at this point (queue more Xbox has no games / Microsoft turn and burns another studio memes).
Oh man, I was about 3/4ths thru that episode. Spoiler…lol
Of all those, Rich is the least unexpected.
Been waiting for the tide to turn on Phil. He’s a new breed of shifty corpo and a lot of the communities have been fooled by his “aww shucks, I’m just a gamer too” persona.
You don’t get that far at a place like Microsoft without creating some bodies. But, we all want to hope the next guy will be different.
Spoiler: they never are.
Goddammit I hate that I laughed at this.
I have a Founders account, it’s $5. Not sure what the new customer tier prices are.
But, for the classic “cup of coffee a month” it’s been worth keeping active since they moved to a paid model however many years ago. The first several years were free if you owned a shield TV.
Additionally, they still offer a 100% free tier to anybody.
Been a GeForce Now user since the Shield TV launch. It’s a great thing to have when I don’t want to drag a laptop or console around with me while traveling. $5 a month is absolutely worth it, especially considering it uses my existing libraries.
Just pulled the trigger on this (ha!). Opened Lemmy while it’s downloading… and it’s done. Well timed.
Exact same here. Moved from the Spigen to the JSAUX with screen cover. Absolutely recommend the JSAUX modkit, it may be my end game deck protector (so far).
For cases, I moved from the pack in to the Gen 1 JSAUX about a year or so ago (the ability to store a Anker Powerbrick + wall wart along with some wired buds and USB-c cable was great). That was perfect until I picked up the docking station and wanted to pack that around too…
Currently I have the Large Capacity Case and it’s working great, but man, this thing is unwieldy in a backpack. That said being able to have all of my Steam Deck shit in one spot for trips is pretty awesome and I throw it into a carryon more often than not if I’m taking the whole kit.
Usually though, I’m rolling with just the deck + modkit with screen cover and power pack in this sling bag. Seems to be the most efficient solution so far, as I don’t really need all the extra stuff in seat when I’m flying so it just gets packed in to my checked bag.
Apologies if this sounds like I’m shilling for JSAUX, it’s not. I legitimately have found them to offer the best solutions when it comes to what’s on the market for the Steam Deck currently. Both myself and my partner use their covers and cases, as does my kid.
My only note for improvement is on the size of the large capacity case, but honestly, I don’t think there’s much that could be done to retain capacity and protection. It’s just the nature of how big these portables are going to inherently be.
Been spending more and just time with plasma on a few Arch installs. I’ve almost got it tuned to be a great Windows replacement.
After some 20 years of trying to get out from under Microsoft but still be able to game, it feels nice to be so close (again… again…).
Proton really is a game changer.
Exactly! I have so many filters in place, some times it’s nice to have a targeted community to feed the exact trash I want to ingest without a glut of meta-memes or low effort Musk spam (as examples).
Is there an equivalent to r/mallninja on Lemmy yet?
That sounds frustrating. I don’t think we’ll ever be able to get games at this scale with clean launches.
I had a terrible experience with Baldurs Gate 3 at launch and felt like I was in an alternate world as I watched it get mass acclaim.
I didn’t pick it up until launch day on Steam and had a pretty bug free experience (even on Deck). That’s a bummer that it dropped with issues.
I would of loved to seen a 2nd entry in this timeline.
Could not agree more about Volition. During that early/mid 00-10’s era they were an immediate buy as a studio. From RF1 all the way to SR4. They completely embodied the AA tier of games.
Great gameplay, fun story and characters and, in just about every game one or two unique ideas that set them apart from their peers.
I dug the return to silly side missions and down to earth gangster-dom.
RIP to a legend as well. The times I interacted with him on Steam and Reddit, he was a greedy guy. Gentlemen is a constant on every fresh OS install.
I’m in the minority (no politics intended) that enjoys the reboot/5. It’s a lot like SR2 under the surface and has some really great gameplay moments. Are there warts, yeah. Are there some bad design decisions? Oh for sure. But, it’s an enjoyable podcast game and sometimes that’s enough!
I absolutely appreciate that schedule works for you and can see the personal benefits. However, we have such a diversified work force thanks to things like complete remote, I still would like for companies to error on the side of what provides the best performance and quality of life.
I understand that’s a utopian ideal and don’t expect it to ever be reality, just wish that it would be manifested better before I once again see amazing talent lost to middle managements inability to evolve. Especially in markets that this type of action should be entirely voluntary.
On the bright side, I don’t think we’ll have to buy them again. We can play them with a Exclusivity Plus Ultra Platinum Day 0 Premium++ with Squenix 385/2 Materia Edition Subscription™️ for only $50 a month!
