Tbf, I don’t think wagon trains typically dealt with RPG-toting wolves.

We need an offensive conservatism, not merely one that tries to prevent the left from doing things we don’t like.
Doing a great job at the offensive part, fellas 👌
Rockity rock and stone!
Yeah, I’m wondering about how they characterize “bot activity.” It seems like “any traffic not proximally related to a user’s synchronous activity” is a little too broad.
I’m not sure if fediverse syncing is bot activity. Or my laptop checking for software updates while I’m sleeping. Or my autopay transactions for utility bills.
I think a better way to look at it is that this is a link to a podcast episode, and the episode has a thorough text introduction.
Curious to hear your take on how automation is recklessly wasteful (and what types of automation), if you feel like sharing it. I thought automation was all about efficiency, but maybe it’s a narrower kind of efficiency than I was thinking… Like optimizing for “make number go up more fast” efficiency, at the expense of all other kinds.
Hell yeah, Tribes is some of the best gaming I’ve ever enjoyed over the last six hundred years 👌 I hope it’s good.
Yeah, exactly-- There’s plenty of oil exec bullshit right there in the article, but I was surprised to learn that he was actually talking about clean energy as an important thing to hurry toward, and investing large sums in carbon capture and stuff. A far cry from cartoonish climate denialism and trying to stop decarbonization.
I saw another post on the same article that had a title like “oil exec tells the public that it’s their responsibility to foot the bill for clean energy…” And while I think that’s lacking a little nuance, it’s at least one area (of several!) that represents an actual claim that deserves criticism.
Far be it from me to tell a Lemmy mob not to eat an oil exec, but wow that’s not even close to what the article says.
“So we’ve got to find a way to get the cost down to grow the utility of the solution, and make it more available and more affordable so that you can begin the [clean energy] transition.”
As per the article, this exec is saying the exact opposite of “it’s too late to transition to clean energy so we might as well not bother.” He’s saying “it’s taking too long because it’s too expensive, so we need to focus on making it cheaper so we can get there faster.”
Is he lying about wanting to hasten the transition to clean energy? Maybe.
Are there other reasons that he is a fiend that must be eaten by the working class? Likely. Article hints at some of them.
But wow this take is off base. These guys do a good enough job making themselves look bad, we don’t have to also make stuff up.
Oh, that’s too bad. There are band-style or hook-style versions that could maybe help with that, but yeah most of them are buds.
One thing I’ll say is that when I used to wear wired buds, they would fall out all the time and I thought I just had weird-shaped ears or something… But when I got into wireless buds, I tried out a bunch of styles and found that without the cord, they stay in way more reliably. Wired ones would fall out when I turn my head or just walk 10 steps, but with wireless ones, I can shake my head or run or anything, and they stay in. I guess the weight/movement of the cord makes a big difference, at least for me.
I just pop em in then answer. Or answer then pop em in.
Have you considered Bluetooth (or wired) earbuds? I can’t stand phone calls without them. Speakerphone makes me self-conscious in public and I can’t help but get shouty, and I have the same problem as you do with face-smush mode. But my Bluetooth earbuds are exactly how I want my phone call experience to be.
Lol I think they probably mean like an entire chat history (or page of one), but yeah that’s pretty big.
For anyone who can’t tell the difference: The OLED is the one that’s next to the other one.
Good news, Lemmy! You will no longer be forced by big tech corporations to run uh… [checks notes] a version of Linux on your Steam Deck anymore!
