Also, if a watch a feminist video, it is usually followed by recommendations of “AnTi-WoKe” mansplaining videos. it is if they want to show “Both Sides” after I watch something about maintaining democracy and contributing to society in a positive way.

The YouTube Games are just another banner of unwanted “content” like Shorts.

The T&A shorts are usually of young women in jeggings and crop-tops doing risqué actions; if your mouse passes over the Shorts for a millisecond , YouTube autoplays them and registers as a view, creating a negative feedback loop of more and more scantily clad young women doing mundane things in a risqué way.

This is ridiculous.

I maintain that prior to Siri, the Dragon-based iOS Voice Command feature (on iPhone 4) was accurate and functional for most purposes, and did on-device parsing. If I asked “Call Mums Mobile” or “Play Jonathan Coulton” it would parse my contacts for a contact named (or nicknamed) Mum and parse my music library for an artist who’s name matched “ˈdʒɑnəθən ˈkoʊltn̩”.

For whatever reason, Siri records my voice, uploads it to the cloud and decides that I wanted to call “Moms homestyle kitchen” and play Drake.

I will purchase and play one game to 100%, or until my RSI starts flaring up. Sometimes, my RSI is so bad that I can’t play a game for several months.

I still have the 1 year of GamePass voucher from when I purchased my XBox One X. The way it is appreciating in value, I could sell it and buy a house!

There are legitimate uses for vehicle telemetry being stored by the vehicle and uploaded to the manufacturer.

Identifying unexpected behaviour under certain driving conditions and being able to contact emergency services in an accident are two important examples. Remote diagnosis in the case of a breakdown is another.

None of these uses include selling the data to third parties or using the data to create a profile of the vehicle owner.

They wouldn’t be selling them at their current price if they weren’t also selling every single privacy violating telemetric to the lowest bidders.

‘Data Detectors’ in MacOS are just as bad. Just like how sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, sometimes a string of numerals is just a string of numerals.

I asked Apple Support how to disable data detectors in Preview (MacOS’s native PDF and image viewer) so I could highlight some part numbers without MacOS trying to make a FaceTime call and they told me to use Adobe Acrobat instead! The problem is that Acrobat is worse.

As plenty of other people have already said, if YouTube Premium went up by a pittance every month (boiling frog price increases) I would probably keep subscribing. The fact that they A) clamped down on AdBlockers and B) increased Premium rates is a major disappointment.

Platforms like Curiosity Stream are looking more and more appealing to those of us who want interesting content and don’t mind parting with a reasonable amount of cash to support creators.
