I actually think this form factor makes more sense than a two-fold. With two-folds you get this weird not-quite-square aspect ratio, but this gives you something much closer to a very typical 16:9. Perfect for watching movies or streaming games.

I do want a proper android device though, which Huawei can’t provide anymore unfortunately. But I hope other manufacturers try their hand at this form factor. Still, massive props to Huawei on the design and engineering feat, it’s genuinely the first phone I’ve seen in years that made me reconsider what I want in a phone.

And no, obviously a tri-fold isn’t necessary, but neither are smartphones in general. Took me years to decide to purchase one and I was fine without one (started with a year-old Samsung S7, for reference).

That’s fairly normal for any battery, regardless of charging rate. I have a OnePlus 9 and haven’t really noticed any huge battery degradation, my phone still easily makes it to the end of the day.

And if not, I charge it for just a couple minutes and get half of the charge back. It’s pretty great. The newest phones can even charge at 100W+. You barely need to bother plugging it in overnight, just plug it in when you take a shower or have breakfast or something.

If you install solar in the meantime you don’t need the nuclear reactor anymore by the time it’s finished. It’s a financial sinkhole.

You’re in a 2 party FPTP system, it doesn’t give you reasonable representation by design.

You get someone you dislike and someone you dislike even more. Voting 3rd party is literally voting against your interests. That’s not an ideological choice, or a political choice, it’s a deeply saddening mathematical reality.

The only way you get your position heard is by fighting candidates for your least-disliked party during the primaries. Get someone you like as the congressional or senatorial candidate. Help them get elected. Even a small number of senators or congressmen can make the difference (see Synema and Manchin for example, or hell even Boebert and MTG who all wield(ed) significant political power well beyond what their voteshare should give them).

By fighting the fight you can’t win (e.g. the vote for president), you only weaken your least-disliked choice. So whoever you really don’t want ends up getting elected. Why? Because the US election system sucks balls.

Voting for the Green party makes it less likely that climate change legislation goes through. That is the sad, paradoxical reality. Being an ideological crusador in this matter doesn’t help anyone and is due to the reality of the shit voting system, despite the best intentions, immoral.

You’re missing the part where Apple initially wanted to partner with Masimo and when they refused, decided to poach several employees from Masimo to develop the competing product.

Masimo seems to have a legitimate case here, and Apple is definitely in the wrong, as they knowingly attempted to copy Masimo’s product. The late publication of the patents could be due to literally anything, but it doesn’t seem to be done willfully to ‘trap’ Apple into this lawsuit. Because of that, I’d argue that this is a bit of a fault in the broken patent system, but that Masimo is not deliberately patent trolling here.
