I’m pretty sure “peeing on everything just for the sake of it” part basically exclusive to un-neutered male cats (they do it to mark territory, as cats are territorial animals)
properly litter-trained cats usually don’t pee all over the place, except occasional “surprises”

also yep, i used to let my cat just roam around every now and then and almost every time he brought me a dead mice as a “gift”
