I think this is really the way going forward with portable gaming.
- Lighter and smaller handheld
- A large screen experience in a portable package
- Privacy
- Not having to hold the handheld device oriented to view it
- Replaceable battery is a big plus too!
There is no mention of Linux as the OS but it looks as friendly to Linux gaming as any other AMD based handheld device beside the Steam Deck.
Anything that goes over my eyes is going to be a negative for me, and I’d assume many others. The second you take away my ability to see what’s going on in and around me it becomes a difficult sell. Same with VR.
The Deck/Switch/whatever allows me to play my games on the on the sofa whilst my kids watch TV/run around. It allows me to play whilst my family is around me, which is important because if I’m going to essentially lock myself away, I’m just not going to want to play. Which was VRs issue.
Not to mention if you want to play in a public space, on a bus or a train. I can’t imagine ever being comfortable with something that robs me of my ability to see what’s going on in that scenario.
This would be better as an accessory to the steam deck (or other handheld).
I would buy it and play in bed when my kid and wife are asleep.
Sure looks sounds dope. I hope i find someone buying irl so i can try it out. It is really hard to tell whether i would like or hate these glasses.
Woof. Their website is chock full of buzzwords (with lots of bonus spelling and grammar errors) with very little actual specs. My personal favorite: “All new flasship gaming processpr” [sic]
Oh, and this helpful bullet list:
6D Immersive Gaming Experience
- Vision Track
- Adaptive Posture
- Sound Comes Alive
- Ultra-Precise Vibrations
- Audio Vibration Enhancement
- Sensory Sync
I have no idea what any of that means, and they don’t explain any of it. But they do repeat it twice, so it must be pretty important.
