    Part of the problem is the media - they are forcing activists to use more and more “annoying” or controversial tactics to “bait” the media into reporting about protests. Otherwise it’s old boring news while there are plenty of other distractions going on. The media also report highlighting how annoying the actions of the climate activists are.

    That’s how they frame the other side. In a way this mirrors what MLK was saying about the “moderate white man” being the worst enemy because he prefers law and order. Except of course the juries actually don’t since they have acquitted the protesters. But that is the thing the media is peddling as “the other side” instead of a majority of people being frustrated by this climate farce.

    So maybe a good strategy for climate activism would be to increase the lobbying of journalists and editors so they report more and clearer about the scope of the problem.

    EDIT: Maybe creating stock footage that illustrates consequences of climate change that journalists can use. I believe often times articles are “inspired” by some kind of visual idea.

      For sure. Things like football games disrupt peoples lives, even cause significant numbers of deaths as associated traffic slows or blocks ambulances. But you never hear about it in the press; only for protests where the news outlet disagrees with the message the protesters have.

        It’s a weird catch-22. Journalists might agree with the message but can’t “sell it” without it being some outrage. And then they have to play the both sides angle and give the reactionaries a platform too and make it about the disruption and unacceptable behavior.
