Here is what will happen

Climate events will get worse.

Conservatives will acknowledge how bad it is but claim nothing can be done.

A climate event will devastate something important to conservatives.

Conservatives will overreact and start passing brutal environment policies, almost entirely focused on restrictions on travel and consumption for the the lower classes.

Liberals, grateful to see the resistance end, will mostly go along with the worst of the restrictions.

We will all suffer

The climate will continue to get worse despite the new regulations (because it’s like going full throttle on a boat, you can cut the power but your momentum still carries you forward for a good while)

Conservatives will say ‘see, look. All these regulations and billions spent and it’s not doing anything!’

Conservatives demand an end to all regulations.

Things get worse…

Granted that this is a predicttion but so far it seems most things we do to improve the situation are iffy if they even help much. Renewables and electrification being some of the few helpful things that still have thier own issue. Then we have tons of ways we just are polluting more and more.
