    I wish they would make associations spend likw 10% on environmental updates each year or something. energy efficient things, solar panels, native planting.

      HOAs exist to keep people from making changes which would lower value before the developer cashes out. So they don’t have anything like that in their charters.

        I mean the gubmint force them to spend 10% like that because besides the developer, good luck getting everyone to agree on spending money to help the environment or neighborhood or future.

    I don’t even live in a HOA, the actually city government does that here. I’ve gotten a warning. And they will cut stuff down then fine you. I don’t know how the fuck this is legal, but it’s not like there are any lawyers that would care about this place. Small towns where the entire local government is comprised of old people that all know and grew up together are scary.

    Indiana (surprisingly) passed a law that says HOAs can only “stop” you if it’s installed wrong. Pretty exciting.
