Main changes are the support for the Nextcloud Notes API and file thumbnail support.
The general compatibility with the Nextcloud Android app was also improved.
Is this a general purpose WebDAV-server? I’m looking for something to use as my Zotero file storage (nearning the point I have to spend $120 for it every year), but as of now, I know nothing about WebDAV.
Also not sure how I understand what it means that it is compatible with Nextcloud. Is it so that my Nextcloud server uses WebDAV as file storage, and I can use this to connect to that? I have kind of been thinking about ditching Nextcloud in favor of more specialized services for the stuff I use Nextcloud for (file sync, photos, calendar, contacts and cospend).
Yes it is a general purpose WebDAV server and should work with Zotero. I have not tried it with Zotero specifically, but I use it with several other apps that only offer normal WebDAV support such as Floccus for bookmarks syncing.
Nextcloud uses Webdav internally, but especially the Nextcloud apps expect a lot of additional non-standard extensions to WebDAV so that they don’t work with normal WebDAV servers. KaraDAV has reverse-engineered most of these extensions and thus the official Nextcloud Android and Desktop apps accept it as if it was a real Nextcloud. It is hovever limited to the file sync feature of Nextcloud, no calendars and such.
I really feel NC doing anything but basic file management is risky. I will check this out though :)
I prefer
prosody
.Prosody is a XMPP server and not a WebDAV server though.
Sorry, embarrassing. I meant
radicale
. Got my self hosting mixed up!
Love the idea of a Nextcloud-compatible DAV server, but the reason I want to drop Nextcloud is because I don’t want to host PHP anymore lol.
Your loss, as KaraDAV works very nicely and is significantly faster than Nextcloud 😎
